Howdy Ya

How ya'll doin'? My name is Rick Bowles, I'm 50 and I'm plum tickled to talk about me! I'm a commercial artist who, for the past 20 years, has
worked as the only authorized scrimshander,...HUH?(see below),for Randall Made Knives of Orlando,Fl.
My current interest include fishin'(well DUH!), cookin',bikein',backgammon...I'm Scratch at VOG Backgammon, collecting sports autographs, handmade knives, NASCAR, Atlanta Braves and did I mention salt water fishin'!I'm most proud of my brainy AND beautiful 17 year old daughter Quincy and my handsome,20 year old U.S. Navy war hero son Garrick. They are indeed the finest end-products of unskilled labor!
I've played the guitar for 40 years and some piano (I used to sing with a top 40 band). I'm a master angler and have compeated successfully in Karate, PPC handgun competition, pocket billiards, art, surfin',and backgammon.(Ain't I somethin'!)

Scratchin
A scrimshander is one who pratices the art of scrimshaw, artwork (scratchin') on ivory. Created by the 19th.century whalers, scrimshaw is the only indigenous American art form. There are currently about 200 scrimshanders in the country, of which about 10% of these are full time, professional scrimshanders. My work is on ivory handled, handmade knives and is available exclusively on world famous Randall Made Knives. Please use the link below to visit there site.
As for the ultimate question, if ya gotta ask, you can't afford it!...I know I can't! To give you an idea though, the knives featured here are insured by their owners for between $1,500.00 and
$7,500.00.

A Little Info About Ivory
Let me first dispel the myth that ALL ivory is illegal...it's not! Currently, the import and export of ivory is restricted and the interstate commerce in marine mammal ivory such as whale, walrus and narwhal is strictly prohibited. African elephant ivory already in the country as of 1973 is legal to buy, sell and work as is the popular fossilized ivory of mammoth and walrus. It's generally around 15,000 years old and predates the "tree-huggers"!
